Empowering vulnerable communities through connection

Stichting Shirati is a Dutch organisation that has been working for decades to improve living conditions in the Shirati area of northwestern Tanzania. The foundation supports direct, small-scale projects focused on healthcare, education and community support. By working closely with local residents, Stichting Shirati makes sure its initiatives address the region’s actual needs.

Why

The rural Shirati District near Lake Victoria faces significant social and economic challenges, including limited access to quality healthcare, a lack of educational facilities, and high rates of diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria. Many families and single mothers are left to fend for themselves. Stichting Shirati supports them with practical resources, education, and medical assistance to help them build a better life.
