Large-scale assistance and compassion

The Soi Dog Foundation is one of the largest and most impactful animal welfare organizations in Asia. Based in Phuket, Thailand, the foundation tirelessly advocates for the fate of hundreds of thousands of stray dogs and cats. What started as a local initiative has grown into a globally supported movement that provides medical care, manages populations humanely, and fights against animal cruelty.

Why

In Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia, millions of dogs and cats live on the streets. Without human care, they are left to suffer from hunger, traffic accidents, and severe diseases. Furthermore, in some regions, they still risk becoming victims of the illegal and extremely cruel dog meat trade. Soi Dog exists to provide these animals with a safe haven, alleviate their suffering, and bring about structural societal changes.

Impact

Mission & goals

The mission of Soi Dog is to create a society where stray animals no longer have to know fear, pain, or hunger. Their main goals are:

  • Humane population control: Systematically reducing the stray animal population through large-scale CNVR programs (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Release).
  • Medical emergency aid and rehabilitation: Running advanced shelters and animal hospitals to treat sick, injured, and abused animals.
  • Combating the dog meat trade: Actively lobbying governments, tightening legislation, and dismantling networks to permanently stop the illegal trade in dog meat.
  • Adoption and rehoming: Finding loving, permanent homes for rescued dogs and cats, both locally and internationally.
Actions
  • Mass sterilization campaigns: Soi Dog has sterilized and vaccinated over a million dogs and cats, which is the most effective and humane way to address the stray animal problem at its source.
  • Disaster relief: Sending mobile medical teams and emergency aid to areas affected by floods or other natural disasters to rescue stranded animals.
  • Community Outreach & Education: Educating local communities and school children about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership to foster empathy from a young age.
  • International adoption mediation: Coordinating the entire adoption process for animals moving to Europe, North America, or other parts of the world to join their new families.

"To help the homeless, neglected, and abused dogs and cats of Asia, and to put an end to animal cruelty."

How your donation helps

Your contribution helps the Soi Dog Foundation to intervene directly where the need is greatest. The operational costs for their state-of-the-art animal hospital, the medications, and the daily care of thousands of animals in the shelter are enormous. With your support, they can fund mobile sterilization teams, perform life-saving surgeries, and cover transportation costs for dogs that have a chance at a new life abroad. In doing so, you are literally saving lives and contributing to a sustainable future for street animals in Asia.
