Those beautiful, remote places we hold so dearly are the reason travel organizations exist. But because they are often the first ones to suffer from the climate crisis, it only makes sense that we do everything in our power to protect them from further harm.
So, stop traveling forever? Nope, instead we're putting our heads together to minimize the damage, promote conscious travel, and use business to do good whenever possible.
... for the children and people of our future, and to prevent our species from going extinct. We owe them a livable planet (because the planet will survive without us). It may sound bleak, but there is hope!
By traveling consciously you are directly contributing to a better world. Butterfly Foundation raises funds in the travel sector through private donors and travel organizations. That money flows to various non-profit organizations linked to your trip.
To maximize the impact of your donation, 100% of your donation goes directly to the non-profit. Under the banner of #Planet, we focus our impact on four categories that contribute to a better world:
Rewilding or 're-wilding'. Creating wilderness on small and large scales so that natural processes can restart on their own. By integrating wild animals or plants, the local nature and communities can flourish again.
Regeneration is the process of natural restoration by stimulating biodiversity and complexity. This is a radically new approach to addressing the climate crisis in just one generation (± 25 years).
Preservation means protecting existing ecosystems and not allowing any exploitation. People are only allowed to use natural areas for recreation, such as national parks.
Conservation literally means the preservation of ecosystems, allowing human exploitation in a responsible manner, so that future generations can continue to enjoy them far into the future.

People
Often, we're traveling to countries where the quality of life is lower than in your home country. Collaborating with local guides, for example, not only provides a better experience for travelers, but also creates a reliable source of income and employment for the local population.

We want to help address larger, systemic problems. Combating poverty and famine by providing access to renewable energy, as well as promoting gender equality and providing education for children and young women. Because everyone deserves equal opportunities.

Replace all polluting cooking stoves with culturally appropriate clean cooking stoves that reduce or eliminate black carbon emissions, preventing illness and death from air pollution.
To eliminate hunger in the world, we focus on ensuring food security, improved nutrition quality, and sustainable agriculture.
We need to localize food sources to address human health, agricultural pollution, food apartheid, climate change, and cultural and biological diversity.
Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy for all. Electrifying every energy stream still powered by fossil fuels, including buildings, transportation, and production.
Wind, solar, electric vehicles, heat pumps, and a reliable electricity grid are top priorities for a green future.
