Together for a sustainable Albania

EcoAlbania is dedicated to protecting Albania's biodiversity, with special attention to rivers like the Vjosa, one of the last wild rivers in Europe.

Why

Albania has unique, pristine natural areas that are threatened by large-scale hydropower projects and pollution. EcoAlbania was established in 2014 to combat these threats and promote sustainable alternatives.

Impact

Mission & goals

EcoAlbania aims to protect the environment and promote sustainable management of natural resources. Their main goals are:

  • To allow the Vjosa and other Albanian rivers to flow freely.
  • To raise awareness about environmental protection among the local population.
  • To collaborate with international organizations to improve legislation.
Actions

EcoAlbania conducts scientific research, organizes educational projects, and campaigns against harmful developments, such as hydropower plants. They play a key role in the establishment of the Vjosa Wild River National Park.

“The Vjosa is not just a river – it’s a living ecosystem that we need to protect for future generations.”
