The mission of BSAG is to accelerate the ecological rescue of the Baltic Sea by bringing about systemic changes. Their main objectives are:
- Counteracting eutrophication: Reducing the influx of nutrients (such as phosphorus and nitrogen) from agriculture and shipping.
- Regenerative agriculture: Transforming the agricultural sector by training farmers in techniques that restore soil health and sequester CO₂.
- Protecting marine biodiversity: Creating and maintaining protected underwater areas to give vulnerable ecosystems a chance to recover.
- Sustainable shipping: Encouraging the maritime sector to stop discharging wastewater and harmful substances into the sea.
