Unlocking talent in every community

The One Economy Foundation is a Namibian organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty. By investing in human capital and creating opportunities, they aim for an inclusive economy where the full potential of every citizen can be realized.

Why

Large parts of the population are still on the periphery of the economy, with limited access to resources, education, and healthcare. The One Economy Foundation exists to address this structural inequality and connect the “two economies” – the formal and the informal.

Mission & goals

The foundation's mission is to empower Namibian citizens through strategic programs that promote self-sufficiency and economic participation. Their goals are:

  • Education and Development: Providing scholarships and mentorship to talented youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Health and Well-being: Improving access to healthcare and addressing social issues like gender-based violence.
  • Entrepreneurship: Supporting micro-entrepreneurs with training and access to capital.
  • Financial Inclusion: Removing barriers that prevent people from participating in the formal financial system.
Actions
  • Talent Empowerment Programme: A flagship initiative that guides young people from high school to the job market.
  • Project Handhold: A program focused on providing psychosocial support and strengthening family structures.
  • Entrepreneurship Hubs: Facilitating spaces where local entrepreneurs can learn skills and build their networks.
  • Policy Advice: Collaborating with the private and public sectors to remove barriers to economic growth in vulnerable communities.

“We believe that talent is universal, but opportunities are not; our job is to bring those opportunities to the people.”

How your donation helps

Your contribution helps the One Economy Foundation bring their educational and social programs directly to the most vulnerable communities. With your support, they can fund scholarships, provide safe shelter and care for victims of violence, and offer startup capital to emerging entrepreneurs. By doing this, you're contributing to a systemic change that lifts not just individuals, but entire generations out of poverty and reduces the CO₂ impact of inequality by building sustainable local economies.
