Surfrider Foundation Netherlands was established to tackle these threats and protect the ocean, beaches, and water quality — not just for surfers, but for everyone and future generations.

The mission of Surfrider Foundation Netherlands is to actively contribute to a healthy and sustainable ocean environment, focusing on:

  • Water quality and public health, through monitoring and raising awareness about pollution. 
  • Protection of beaches, surf spots, and coastal areas against litter and ecological damage. 
  • Local and international campaigns that put pressure on policymakers and public standards. 
  • Education and activism, enabling citizens to effectively participate in change. 
Actions

Surfrider Foundation Netherlands carries out concrete actions and programs, including:

  • Ocean Initiatives — projects aimed at reducing litter in the sea and on beaches. 
  • Ocean Friendly Restaurants — collaboration with the hospitality sector to reduce plastic pollution. 
  • Water Quality & Health — programs for monitoring water quality and health. 
  • Cigarette Butts Campaign — special campaigns to tackle cigarette butts as a significant source of pollution. 
  • Volunteer actions and events — clean-up actions, educational activities, and community events.
