Pioneers in sustainable mountain sports

Mountain Riders is a dedicated organization that has been committed to the ecological transition of mountain areas since 2001. With a team of 18 passionate staff members, they work daily towards a future where humans and nature can coexist harmoniously in the mountains without harming each other.

Why

Mountains are beautiful but fragile ecosystems that are under severe pressure from pollution and climate change. In many mountain areas, littering is a growing problem that affects biodiversity and water quality. Mountain Riders exists to accelerate the transition to a sustainable mountain model and to protect the mountains for future generations.

Impact

Mission & goals

The organization has a clear vision: creating a livable and sustainable mountain environment. Their main objectives are:

  • Zero waste by 2030: Eradicating litter in the mountains through large-scale clean-up campaigns and prevention at the source.
  • Education and awareness: Training the youth and mobilizing the general public to respect nature.
  • Support for mountain stations: Assisting tourist destinations in making their policies more sustainable through the Flocon Vert label.
Actions

Mountain Riders translates their mission into concrete actions on the ground:

  • Waste Collection: They organize numerous clean-up days each year, during which thousands of kilos of waste are removed from nature by volunteers.
  • Flocon Vert Label: They manage this quality label that awards mountain areas meeting strict criteria in terms of environment, social dynamics, and sustainable economy.
  • Educational Programs: The organization conducts interventions in schools and develops playful tools to teach children how they can become 'drivers of change'.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Through monthly webinars and workshops, they facilitate a network of experts and citizens working together on solutions for mobility, energy, and biodiversity.

"We work every day towards a desired and livable mountain environment where all forms of life can coexist without harming each other."

— Antoine Chouvellon, founder of Mountain Riders

How your donation helps

Your contribution helps Mountain Riders keep the mountains clean and accelerate the ecological transition in mountainous areas. With your support, they can develop educational packages for schools, finance large-scale cleanup operations on hard-to-reach mountain peaks, and expand the Flocon Vert label into new areas. This way, you directly protect the biodiversity of the Alps and contribute to the ambitious mission for a waste-free mountain by 2030.
