Protection of the Oslofjord

Fjord CleanUP is dedicated to cleaning up and restoring the Oslofjord, an ecosystem threatened by waste and pollution. From electric scooters to plastic waste, the organization collaborates with volunteers and businesses to make the fjord clean and healthy again.

Why

The Oslofjord is one of Norway's most iconic natural areas, but it is threatened by litter and pollution. Fjord CleanUP was born out of the necessity to protect the marine ecosystem and engage the community in its preservation. Through targeted cleanup activities and innovative projects, the organization helps restore the fjord.

Impact

Mission & goals

Fjord CleanUP aims for a waste-free Oslofjord. Their mission is to reduce marine waste, restore ecosystems, and involve the community in sustainable water management. They want to provide long-term solutions, such as reducing waste streams and promoting awareness.

Actions
  • Cleanup actions: Volunteers remove trash from the water and along the coastline.
  • Autonomous waste solutions: Aqua Pods independently collect waste from the fjord.
  • Ecological restoration: Projects like McWeed promote the growth of seaweed, which helps filter the water and restore ecosystems.
  • Community engagement: Through pop-up galleries and educational initiatives, the importance of a clean fjord is highlighted.

“Together we can save the Oslofjord — every cleanup action makes a difference!”
