The Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation is dedicated to the purchase and protection of ancient forests in Finland. By securing valuable natural areas, we help endangered species, improve biodiversity, and preserve wilderness for the future.
Finland loses large parts of its ancient forests every year due to deforestation and commercial logging. These forests are crucial for the preservation of unique ecosystems and rare animal species. The foundation was established to permanently protect these primeval forests and to give nature back to itself.
The foundation aims to preserve and expand the remaining primeval forests in Finland. They want to:
Through donations, the foundation purchases forests that are in their natural state and converts them into protected areas. Volunteers assist in identifying valuable natural areas, which can sometimes also be protected by the government. Thanks to swift action and targeted purchases, they are a crucial player in the protection of Finnish forests.
