Creating unique travel experiences and unforgettable memories often comes at the expense of the planet or local communities.
Butterfly Foundation wants to demonstrate that you can also use 'travel' as a tool against the climate crisis, and that it's possible to leave the people and the environment better than the way you found it.
When a butterfly flaps its wings, it can cause a sorm on the other side of the world. Similarly, small - often invisible - positive changes consistently over time lead to a tremendous positive impact in the long run. That's the power of The Butterfly Effect.

In 2023, 1.3 billion people traveled to every corner of the world, and the demand for increasingly remote, off-the-beaten-path journeys is growing every year. Travel is inherently linked to high CO₂ emissions and a significant impact on local ecosystems and social communities.
With the enormous footprint of the travel industry in mind, there is still a long way to go. Making that industry 100% responsible is a monumental task, but the journey towards positive change is more important than the destination.
As a group of people who love to travel, we want to demonstrate that despite all our imperfections, we recognize where our negative impact lies and where our societal and social responsibilities lie. And when we dare to take on those responsibilities, you quickly realize that their effect - on any scale - is always positive and progressive. Small actions build upon each other.
